Dr. Kevin Adkins

Born in Manila Arkansas 1955.
Graduated 1973 Manila High School.
Worked on family farm until 1980.
ASU in Jonesboro 1980-1984, graduated BS in Chemistry.
UAMS Little Rock 1984-1988, graduate MD.
Residency 1988-1991 AHEC Jonesboro.
1991 to present in Mtn Home medical practice.
Enjoy family activities, snow skiing, scuba diving, missionary work.
My sons were involved in Lego League and Bomb Squad.


Mrs. Vicki Brantly

K-12 Literacy Specialist for the Mountain Home Public Schools
Member of the National Council of Teachers of English
Has served as a trainer-facilitator for both the Mid-South and the Arkansas
Writing Projects
Named Teacher of the Year in 1983
Co-chair of the Mountain Home High School English Department, where she sponsors Quiz Bowl
Along with her husband, Mrs. Brantly served as sponsor of the Baxter Bomb Squad from 1997 through 2003. Among the many highlights of that wonderful experience was winning the Chairman's Award in 2000
She and her husband have taught in the same school for 30 years with 22 years in the same building
Their daughter is also a teacher
The Brantlys attend East Side Baptist Church


Mr. Cecil Brickell

BA in science and education from Arkansas State University

Implemented farm programs for the 2000 acre Cecil Brickell Farms in Caraway, Arkansas

Jason Calaway

Graduated Valedictorian and All-Conference (in football) from Mtn. View High Scholl in 1997.
Graduated from University of Arkansas @ Fayetteville with a BS in
Mechanical Engineering.
Served as Acting Vice President of the Society of Automotive Engineers UofA
Chapter.
Was on the SAE Mini-Baja team: specializing in the Braking, Steering, and Safety Systems.
Member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity.
Served four years in the AFROTC program at theUniversity
of Arkansas @Fayetteville.
Have worked for 2 years in the Civil Engineering field, specializing in
Subdivision Design, and Commercial Site Development.
Have judged contest for Odyssey of the Mind competitions.
Enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing Flag Football for my
company (City of Rogers Champions).
I really enjoy watching people using Science and Engineering to unravel
the mysteries of life and the natural world


Neil Chandler

Retired partner, Deloitte & Touche, after a 30 year Certified Public Accounting career in Springfield, IL.
Among several community activities, served as president of Springfield, IL Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Tourism Commission, and Governor's appointed chairman of Capital City Planning Commission.
B.S. from Bradley University, Peoria, IL.
Served in the USAF, held reserve commission as Captain.
Resident of Mountain Home for 15 years.
Activities now include golf, quartet and church choir singing, golf, writing, golf, and acting.
Comments: "I look forward to again participate in the LEGO League Tournament. It is a challenge and a joy."

Dr. Eddie Dry

Hometown: Squires, MO
Graduated from Ava High School in 1981
B.S. Agriculture, School of the Ozarks, 1985
M.S. Biology, Southwest Missouri State University, 1992
Ph. D. Entomology, University of Arkansas Fayetteville, 1999
Currently a professor at ASU Mountain Home, since 1997.
Responsibilities at ASUMH include teaching general biology, botany, zoology, human anatomy & physiology, as well as some of the biology courses required for the mortuary science program. A new course in entomology (the study of insects)will be offered in spring 2003.
Involved in various volunteer community service projects, Among them are the mentoring program through Baxter County Juvenile Services / Alternative School and participation in a social justice organization, Embracing Diversity Group.
I also enjoy canoeing, camping, and backpacking.


 

Clark Fletcher

Born in Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1951.
Graduated Mountain Home High School in 1969.
Graduated Arkansas Tech University in 1973, BS in Geology, minor in Math. Graduated University of Tennessee in 1975, MS Geology, emphasis on Geochemistry.
Worked 1975-1998 in the coal mining industry holding numerous positions, including responsibility for properties, exploration, development and environmental affairs.
Also served as an instructor at the University of Kentucky - Madisonville Community College, Madisonville, KY, teaching classes in Geology and Mineral Management.
Served on the Board of Directors of the Western Kentucky Coal Association.
Appointed to the Kentucky Biodiversity Task Force, and Kentucky Water Quality Review Committee.
Presently is retained as a coal consultant by the Bank of America, in Nashville, TN.
Currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Baxter County, Arkansas.
He and his wife of 28 years, Janice, have two children; a son who is a mechanical engineer and a daughter who is in pharmacy school.


Mr. Tyrone Fowler

Received BS in Wildlife and Conservation management from Southwest Missouri State University
Has worked for Corp of Engineers for 11 years
Coordinates Lake Clean Up Program, Hunters Education Program, Kids Fishing Derby, J.A.K.E.S Event, and Boat Education Classes
Affiliated with Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Federation
Enjoys turkey and duck hunting, weight lifting, and spending time with daughter Aubrey.
Comments: "I think that learning science and technology, as well as team work and sportsmanship, are important for young adults. This program will be quite an experience for the students and for the judges"


David R. Fry

Received his Bachelor of Science, Computer Science, from the School of the Ozarks.
Serves Baxter Regional Medical Center as Director of Information Systems and Health Information.
Responsibilities at BRMC include development and implementation of integrated MIS strategies, re-engineering processes while transitioning to the latest technologies, designing and overseeing the infrastructure to support the growing $220M healthcare operation.
Previously held senior technical positions at International Paper Company (NYSE: IP), and provided consulting services to Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) before joining Baxter Regional Medical Center in 1992.
Is a sport bike enthusiast, musician, holds an advanced class amateur radio license, and enjoys canoeing and camping.

Dr. Michael Langevin

Dr. Langevin has practiced in Mountain Home since 1979.
He received his B.S. in Zoology from Arkansas State University in 1975 and attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN for his doctorate.
He is a member of numerous professional organizations and regularly lectures to the Anatomy and Physiology classes at ASU-MH campus.
Dr. Langevin has raised two children and is active in the local soccer association. He has coached at all age levels and is still an active referee for recreational soccer as well as the state high school level. He was instrumental in the institution of the women's high school soccer team in Mountain Home.
Comments: The appreciation of science and its everyday application in ones life cannot be over estimated. I am very happy to serve and make this a possibility in a young adults life.


Roger Leonard

Graduated from Cross County High School in 1983.
Graduated from ASU-Jonesboro with a BS degree in Computer Information Systems in 1987.
Worked for McNeill Trucking in Calico Rock from 1987 to 1993 as computer programmer.
Currently is employed by Claridge Products in Harrison as Director of MIS.
Currently president of the school board at Flippin School District.
Currently president of South Shore Soccer Association.
Family includes wife Susan and sons Michael (14) and Jacob (8).
Former coach of Cleanup Crew lego league team which won -
  • 2nd place NATIONAL Directors Award in 2002-2003
  • 2 awards for first place Directors Awards
  • 2 awards for programming
  • 1 award for teamwork
  • 2 awards for Research Presentation plus various other honorable mentions for every major category in 3 years of competitions.
  • The Cleanup Crew also scored a perfect score at the international competition in 2004-2005 at Atlanta.

I feel that this lego league program and the FIRST robotics program needs more exposure because it is a very strong foundation in engineering for a lot of students and can be a very big influence on these students future.

10 year member of the Mountain Home Robotics team, the "Bomb Squad"
Greg and his wife Ann live in Mountain Home. They have one son and two
beautiful granddaughters

Mr. Ken Patton

Engineering Manager in the Advanced Engineering group of GM Powertrain, the global manufacturer of engines and transmissions for General Motors
Has several years experience in the areas of design and development of engines and powertrains
Received his Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University
Received his Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Member of the Huskie Brigade, FIRST team #65 from Pontiac Northern High School; he has been heavily involved in FIRST since 1997.
Ken was the recipient of FIRST's 1999 Woodie Flowers Award, for excellence in communication in the art and science of engineering and design.
Has been a student competitor, volunteer, and judge in other engineering competitions such as the Society of Automotive Engineers Mini-Baja Vehicle competition and Formula SAE competition


Don Pinckney

Youth Education Assistant, Missouri University Outreach and Extension.
For the past twenty eight years, worked with Missouri 4-H members, leaders and 4-H clubs in Douglas, Ozark and Wright counties in Missouri. Responsibilities with UOE are building traditional 4-H program. 4-H after school, direct summer camps, coordinate trips and community services projects.
