Named 1983 Teacher of the Year for the Mountain Home school district
Nominated for the Mountain Home Education Foundation Hall of Fame
Served, along with husband Perry, as faculty sponsor for the Baxter Bomb Squad from 1997-2003.  Among the many highlights of that wonderful experience was winning the FIRST Chairman's Award in 2000.
Recognized for volunteer service by FIRST LEGO League in 2004
Attend East Side Baptist Church and serve as a family in the deacon ministry, Sunday School, and jail ministry

Jason Calaway

Graduated Valedictorian and All-Conference (in football) from Mtn. View High Scholl in 1997.
Graduated from University of Arkansas @ Fayetteville with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Served as Acting Vice President of the Society of Automotive Engineers UofA
Chapter.
Was on the SAE Mini-Baja team: specializing in the Braking, Steering, and Safety Systems.
Member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity.
Served four years in the AFROTC program at theUniversity of Arkansas @Fayetteville.
Have worked for 2 years in the Civil Engineering field, specializing in Subdivision Design, and Commercial Site Development.
Have judged contest for Odyssey of the Mind competitions.
Enjoy the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and playing Flag Football for my company (City of Rogers Champions).
I really enjoy watching people using Science and Engineering to unravel the mysteries of life and the natural world

 


Steve Cardin

Steve became the Plant Manager of Baxter Healthcare at Mountain Home in April 2006 Prior to moving to Mountain Home, he was the Plant Manager of Baxter Healthcare, Irvine, CA since August 2000

Steve received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Military Academy, West Point

He received his MBA from the University of CA, Irvine

Steve served in the United States Army 1986 - 1992 as an Infantry Officer

Comments: "FIRST is an inspirational, unique, and important program that really can make a positive difference in the lives of our children as they gain experience that will directly influence their future. At Baxter Healthcare, Mountain Home, we know that our involvement and support of FIRST is vital to our community and to our children. I am pleased to be a part of this year's First Lego League tournament and look forward to a rewarding and challenging day."

 

Neil Chandler

Retired partner, Deloitte & Touche, after a 30 year Certified Public Accounting career in Springfield, IL.
Among several community activities, served as president of Springfield, IL Chamber of Commerce, Convention and Tourism Commission, and Governor's appointed chairman of Capital City Planning Commission.
B.S. from Bradley University, Peoria, IL.
Served in the USAF, held reserve commission as Captain.
Resident of Mountain Home for 20 years.
Activities now include golf, quartet and church choir singing, golf, writing, golf, and acting.
Comments: "I look forward to again participate in the LEGO League Tournament. It is a challenge and a joy."

 

Ryan Croom

Graduated from MHHS in 2007

Participated as Team Leader for the “Stealth Bomber” FLL Team from 1999-2002.

Alexander W. Dunlap
DVM, MD

Dr. Dunlap graduated 1984 from the University of Arkansas with his (BS) Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a BSA in Animal Science.
He earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1989, and in 1996 he received his doctorate in Medicine from the University of Tennessee.
Between 1991-Present, Dr. Dunlap has supported nine NASA space flights as a Veterinarian and Scientist
In 1996, Dr. Dunlap was selected as an Alternate Payload Specialist (Astronaut) for Space Shuttle Flight STS-90/Neurolab, a research mission that investigated the effects of microgravity on the brain and nervous system.
Currently, Dr. Dunlap serves both as Chief Veterinarian for NASA and as an emergency room physician at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.

 

 

Clark Fletcher

Born in Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1951.
Graduated Mountain Home High School in 1969.
Graduated Arkansas Tech University in 1973, BS in Geology, minor in Math. Graduated University of Tennessee in 1975, MS Geology, emphasis on Geochemistry.
Worked 1975-1998 in the coal mining industry holding numerous positions, including responsibility for properties, exploration, development and environmental affairs.
Also served as an instructor at the University of Kentucky - Madisonville Community College, Madisonville, KY, teaching classes in Geology and Mineral Management.
Served on the Board of Directors of the Western Kentucky Coal Association.
Appointed to the Kentucky Biodiversity Task Force, and Kentucky Water Quality Review Committee.
Presently is retained as a coal consultant by the Bank of America, in Nashville, TN.
Currently serving as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Baxter Regional Medical Center in Baxter County, Arkansas.
He and his wife of 28 years, Janice, have two children; a son who is a mechanical engineer and a daughter who is in pharmacy school.

 

 

Mr. Tyrone Fowler

Received BS in Wildlife and Conservation management from Southwest Missouri State University
Has worked for Corp of Engineers for 15 years
Coordinates Lake Clean-Up Program, Summer water patrol on Norfork Lake/Bull Shoals Lakes, Kids Fishing Derby, and Boat Education Classes
Affiliated with Delta Waterfowl and National Wild Turkey Federation
Enjoys turkey and duck hunting, weight lifting, and spending time with daughter Aubrey.
Comments: "I think that learning science and technology, as well as team work and sportsmanship, are important for young adults. This program will be quite an experience for the students and for the judges"

 

Thomas Goates

Dr. Michael Langevin

Dr. Langevin has practiced in Mountain Home since 1979.

He received his B.S. in Zoology from Arkansas State University in 1975 and attended Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN for his doctorate.

He is a member of numerous professional organizations and regularly lectures to the Anatomy and Physiology classes at ASU-MH campus.

Dr. Langevin has raised two children was active in soccer as a coach and referee for recreational as well as the state high school level. He was instrumental in the institution of the women's high school team in Mountain Home.

Currently Dr. Langevin is a volunteer at the Free Christian Clinic seeing patients in the new Ocular Pathology section of the clinic. Comments: "The appreciation of science and its everyday application in ones life cannot be over estimated. I am very happy to serve and make this a possibility in a young adults life."

Kent Marts

Born in Clarksville, Ar. and Graduated from Springdale High School in 1981.
My wife Natalie and I have four children - Jeff, 17; Sarah, 16; Laura, 11 and David, 4.
Graduated from ASU in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism.
Worked at Benton County Daily Record for almost 20 years and received many awards from the Arkansas Press Association. I started as a reporter and worked my way up to vice president, general manager and editor.
My hobbies include umpiring baseball, coaching girls softball, duck & deer hunting, and dog breeding.
I am also an amateur astronomy and serve as club president for Sugar Creek Astronomical Society, and publish the club quarterly magazine, The Reflector.
Board President of the First Christian Church in Bentonville.
Board member for Baseball Umpires of N.W. Arkansas, and Bentonville Little League.

 

Mr. Bruce McGillivary

Bruce McGillivray is a corporate vice president of Baxter Healthcare Corporation and president of the company’s Renal business. In this position, he is responsible for the development and worldwide marketing of Baxter’s peritoneal and hemodialysis products and services.

Mr. McGillivray has been with Baxter since 1980 as a territory manager for the Hospital Division in Canada, and throughout the years has held a succession of senior positions. He was named president of Baxter Canada in 1997 and in 2002 was named president of Renal Europe.

Mr. McGillivray serves on the boards of the Lake Forest School of Management and the National Kidney Foundation.

Mr. McGillivray has a degree in economics from York University and a masters of business administration from the University of Toronto.

 

Donna Meyer

Donna is currently employed at Baxter Healthcare as Human Resources Director

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Biola University and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Keller Graduate School. Donna is Certified PHR (Professional Human Resources)

Member of national Society of Human Resource Managers.

Meredith Novak

Arkansas native, graduated from Little Rock McClellan High School in 1980

Owner of the Shred Squad, a commercial paper shredding company that provides employment and fundraising opportunities for the Bomb Squad Students

Science and Technology Group board member and Bomb Squad mentor since 2002

Coach of the 2005 and 2006 Arkansas FLL Champion team, the FIRSTfruits of East Side Baptist Church

Married to the brilliant and stunningly handsome John Novak, FIRST mentor extraordinaire and longsuffering husband and father

I have three children who have been on three different FIRST teams that have made it to the Championship event.  This speaks less to the excellence of my kids (though they are, of course) than it does to the talent and dedication of our FIRST volunteers.”

 


Mr. Ken Patton

Engineering Manager in the Advanced Engineering group of GM Powertrain, the global manufacturer of engines and transmissions for General Motors
Has several years experience in the areas of design and development of engines and powertrains

Received his Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Member of the Huskie Brigade, FIRST team #65 from Pontiac Northern High School; he has been heavily involved in FIRST since 1997.
Ken was the recipient of FIRST's 1999 Woodie Flowers Award, for excellence in communication in the art and science of engineering and design.
Has been a student competitor, volunteer, and judge in other engineering competitions such as the Society of Automotive Engineers Mini-Baja Vehicle competition and Formula SAE competition

 

Don Pinckney

Youth Education Assistant, Missouri University Outreach and Extension.
For the past twenty eight years, worked with Missouri 4-H members, leaders and 4-H clubs in Douglas, Ozark and Wright counties in Missouri. Responsibilities with UOE are building traditional 4-H program. 4-H after school, direct summer camps, coordinate trips and community services projects.

Jessie Walker

Graduated in 2002 from Mountain Home High School.
Member of the 2001-2002 Baxter Bomb Squad.
Three year member of the Student Government Association at Arkansas State and four year member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arkansas State University in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Speech Communication.
Currently employed at Wal-Mart Home Office serving as an assistant to the Associate General Counsel in charge of Diversity for the Wal-Mart Legal Department.
