Alexander W. Dunlap
DVM, MD

Dr. Dunlap graduated 1984 from the University of Arkansas with his (BS) Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and a BSA in Animal Science.
He earned his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 1989, and in 1996 he received his doctorate in Medicine from the University of Tennessee.
Between 1991-Present, Dr. Dunlap has supported numerous NASA space flights as a Veterinarian and Scientist
In 1996, Dr. Dunlap was selected as an Alternate Payload Specialist (Astronaut) for Space Shuttle Flight STS-90/Neurolab, a research mission that investigated the effects of microgravity on the brain and nervous system.
Currently, Dr. Dunlap serves both as Chief Veterinarian for NASA and as an emergency room physician at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, AR.

 

Mr. Tyrone Fowler

Received BS in Wildlife and Conservation management from Southwest Missouri State University
Has worked for Corp of Engineers for 18 years
Coordinates Lake Clean-Up Program, Summer water patrol on Norfork Lake/Bull Shoals Lakes, Kids Fishing Derby, and Boat Education Classes
Affiliated with Delta Waterfowl and National Wild Turkey Federation
Enjoys turkey and duck hunting, weight lifting, and spending time with daughter Aubrey.
Comments: "I think that learning science and technology, as well as team work and sportsmanship, are important for young adults. This program will be quite an experience for the students and for the judges"

Dr. Leigh Ann Gigliotti

 

Native of Baxter County and Mountain Home since 1976. 

Graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1988.

Attended Arkansas State University - Jonesboro and received a BSE in Education and MSE in Special Education with an emphasis in Gifted and Talented

Attended Saint Louis University, St. Louis, Missouri and received Ed.D. in 2005

Taught in the classroom for eight years

Received Missouri Recognition Award for Service with Autistic Students in 1993 and Missouri Scholars Teacher of the Year in 1998 and 1999

Principal for nine years in grades ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade

Director of Gifted Programs for five years in the Mountain Home School District and currently serving as Assistant Superintendent of the Mountain Home School District

Instructor for electronics and industrial automation at North Arkansas College. 

Part of the team that hosts the Northark BEST robotics hub annually.

Managed the engineering for an industrial system integrator, Automated Control Concepts, Inc. for 9 years.

Kent Marts

Born in Clarksville, AR. and Graduated from Springdale High School in 1981.
Graduated from Arkansas State University in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree in journalism.
Publisher and editor of the 8 weekly newspapers published by Northwest Arkansas Newspapers since springs 2010. Writes a weekly column that tends to focus on science and nature. Worked at Benton County Daily Record for almost 23 years, where he started as a reporter and worked his way up to vice president, general manager and editor before taking his current position as publisher.
Hobbies include umpiring baseball, coaching youth sports, duck & deer hunting, and dog breeding.
Member of the First Christian Church/WaterWay Christian Church in Bentonville.
Board member of Bentonville Youth Baseball.

He and his wife Natalie have four children - Jeff, 21; Sarah, 20; Laura, 15 and David, 9.

Robert Nelson

Native of Mountain Home and graduated from MHHS in the class of 1960.

Received his BA degree from Arkansas Tech and his MEd from the University of Arkansas.

Spent three years teaching at Searcy Junior High before coming home to Mountain Home as High School band director.  He held that position for thirty-five years and retired from teaching in 2002. 

During his tenure at Mountain Home, he was named "Teacher of the Year" in 1975 and in 1979, and as the Arkansas "Bandmaster of the Year" in 1994.

Served as president of the Arkansas School Band & Orchestra Association, the Arkansas Bandmasters' Association, Arkansas chapter of Phi Beta Mu, National Band Fraternity, and past president of the Baxter County Retired Teachers' Association.  Currently serves as a board member of the Mountain Home Education Foundation, and was named to the Foundation’s “Hall of Honors” in 2010. 

He was elected to the Mountain Home school board in September of 2006, and is serving his second year as President of the board and is the board's representative on the Finance Committee.

Married Ann Joyce (MHHS class of 1963) and they have two daughters, Laura (class of 1982) and Marcy (class of 1990), and six grandchildren.

Dr. Ray Stahl, MD

Received his Doctor of Medicine and completed his Surgery Residency at the University of Tennessee in Memphis.
Practices general, thoracic and vascular surgery in Mountain Home, Arkansas

Ben Strider

Mountain Home resident since 1978. Ben graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1986.

Received his engineering degree in 1992 from the University of Houston and his MBA from Arkansas State University. 

Owns Strider Consulting, Inc., a civil engineering/surveying company and is a licensed engineer in both Arkansas and North Carolina. 

Elected to the school board in September 2009 and was recently elected to serve and the Secretary of the Mountain Home School Board.

Member of the Mountain Home Planning Commission for six years and served as Chairman for two of those years.

Married to his wife Laura for 20 years, they have three children Lauren, Katy and Hayden who attend Mountain Home public schools.
